Preparing your vehicle for sale
- Make sure your car is clean both inside and out. Take out anything lying around that makes your car look messy and untidy. If you want it looking it’s best, we recommend having it professionally cleaned and detailed.
- Take the time to check that the tyres are at their correct pressure and inflate them to their correct levels if they are not. This will make sure the vehicle handles correctly on a test drive.
- Consider investing in a vehicle inspection, especially if your car is out of warranty. This will include a history report so the buyer can see the vehicle has not been damaged, written off or have money owing on it.
- Have the cars current registration papers ready to prove that you are the owner and that the vehicle is licenced.
- Also have the cars log book and service records on hand to show any potential buyer that the vehicle has been serviced at the correct intervals.
Taking Great Photos
Now that your car is clean and tidy, it’s time to take some photos
- Try to shoot early in the morning or in the evening to avoid shadowing or harsh reflections.
- Make sure you are using a quality camera or smartphone with high definition resolution and avoid using the flash. If you don’t have decent equipment or not confident in taking photos that show off your car to it’s full potential, then pay a photographer to take high quality photos for you.
- Try to take landscape (horizontal) photos not portrait (vertical).
- Avoid shooting at eye level. Though that’s the most natural starting point, it’s also the least flattering angle for a car
Writing Your Description
A great vehicle description should be clear, concise and correct. It can be the difference between getting a site visitor to call or to just keep on browsing.
- Be precise in your description of the car detailing the year, make, model, badge, km’s, transmission, body, fuel and engine type and any accessories it may have.
- Include a brief description including the vehicles history i.e. had from new and always serviced on time but try to keep words to a minimum.
- Always be honest with anything that may be wrong with the vehicle. It’s better a buyer is aware of any imperfections before they commit to viewing the car.
